My research has been featured in a number of news and media outlets, including: USA TODAY, Los Angeles Times, New York Daily News, Washington Post, Dallas Morning News, NBC News, and National Public Radio. I have also published op-eds based in my research findings, including a piece on immigration and crime featured in the Star-Telegram (click here for link). Recently, I had the opportunity to discuss my research on immigrants and crime on MSNBC’s The Rundown with Jose Diaz-Balart (click here or below to view the segment).
This year I also was fortunate to contribute to an excellent story — based on my research on substance use among pregnant teens — that was featured on Austin’s local NBC Affiliate (KXAN, click here or below to view the video)
A number of pop culture and entertainment outlets have also featured my research, including: Cosmopolitan, Teen Vogue, Seattle Weekly, New York Magazine, and Conan . For me, this is fun and I view it as a great opportunity for research dissemination. For instance, the Conan segment (click here or below to view) is quite funny and does a nice job of explaining one of the key findings from a recent study.
When possible, I also like to engage Spanish-language media in both the United States and in Latin America. A number of my studies have been featured in La Opinión (the nation’s leading Spanish-language newspaper), Fox News Latino, and other Spanish-language outlets. Recently, I was interviewed for a segment by Austin’s Univisión 62 Noticias (click here or below to view).
